Jimmy hails from a family of great old time
fiddle players. Jim's uncle, Ward Allen and his father, Lorne Allen
were huge influences on Jimmy's playing and he is pleased to offer
updated versions of these tunes to continue the legacy of Canadian
old time heritage fiddle music.
In 1967, Jimmy was thrilled to be part of the Don Messer Centennial
Tour playing in |
|
Hawksbury, Ottawa and Peterborough, Ontario.
In 1974 Ken Reynolds formed the New Happy Wanderers. Jimmy and the
group played up and down the Ottawa Valley at local fairs as well as
dances
in South March until the mid-eighties. |
 |
In 1976, Jimmy played the old time fiddle
tune, Old Joe Clark for Joe Clark's inauguration all day at the Chateau
Laurier when he became leader of thie Progressive Conservative Party
of Canada.
Jimmy felt it was time to release a few of his older tunes in digital
format. New generations of fiddle players can continue to hear the
old time fiddle music, thereby allowing a promise Jim made to Ward
Allen in 1963 to continue the ALLEN SOUND throughout
North America to come true.
Jimmy's own compositions are now available for the next generation of
Canadian fiddle players. |
